Stories of terror, fear, and dread. These are the tales told by Howard Philips Lovecraft. (H. P. Love craft). No tales that have crossed my eyes that have made my imagination twist and scream in such a way as lovecraft's have. Of the stories from this book I have chosen three that stuck out and set a theme for the book at large. The stories were, "The Rats In The Walls", "The Outsider", "The Picture in the House". In general all three stories were about a youn man being in the worst place at an even worse time. In "The Rats In The Walls" A young man from Virginia goes to his ancestrial home in England in order to disprove tales of evil that have followed his family for centuries. Though instead of disproving the rumors he adds fuel to the fire when he becomes a vicious cannibal. The outsider is a dark tale of a dark man, whom hales from a subterranian castle. He often wonders of the outsaide world, believing he lives in a deep wood far above ground, when he finally gets to the surface he descovers a terrible secret. In the third storry I found the most terrifying predicimant, more so because it has a small fear of mine intertwined with it. In the "The Picture in The House" a young anthropologist happens upon a hermits hut and discovers a most disturbing bit of literature, depicting the buitcher shop of a cannibal tribe. This man did not fair very well in this little terror tale. From these tales I can assure you that all to most of the horrifying tales trapped in those bindings are of this sort, a young protagonist (who are all to a degree naive is lured into a frightening situation and is killed or scared senseless.
